The confetti has settled, which means it's time to get real about the year ahead. Luckily, Susan Miller is here to help.

With a following 12 million strong, Miller, founder of AstrologyZone.com, is on intimate terms with all 12 signs of the zodiac, and she's closely examined the upcoming year's celestial alignment. According to Miller, the luckiest day of the year will be September 25, when Jupiter will conjunct the sun in Libra. "This will be a beautiful week for marriages or getting engaged, or for love," she reveals.


Other notable months? May, when you'll want to avoid renovations. "Mars is going to be retrograde from April through August, and things are going to move very, very slowly," she says. "We're all going to be walking through glue, and we're going to be looking back a lot, at what we've done, decisions we've made, actions we've taken."
Here's what else Miller says you need to know to keep both your literal and figural house in order in 2016.

Poor little Capricorns, you have moved so much, perhaps even more than once over the past two years. Some of it is job-driven — you are a very ambitious sign. Uranus, the planet of constant surprise, entered your house of home in March 2011 and is there to stay until March 2019. You had to learn how to be flexible and how to make a home quickly. With these opportunities to try new things, you can experiment: light colors, dark colors, a fireplace? That's using the constant change in the best possible way. Through trial and error, you'll discover your style.

With so many planets in retrograde in May, don't sign anything early in the year, Aquarius. Retrograde planets want you to look backwards and not forward, so if you are trying to sell a house, you may have to adjust the price. If you are trying to sell property, it is going to take forever. You just have to be realistic and listen to your broker. You'll have better luck after November 14, however. That's the time to really make the big decisions. Since you might be going back to school this year, think about a nicely appointed home office with a beautiful desk that you really don't use for anything else."


They say that Pisces is THE most creative sign because your ideas come from your dreams. However, Pisces isn't going to be changing an address or fixing things up this year. You've already put your space together the way you enjoy it most.

Instead, 2016 is about entertaining, particularly around the full moon on December 14 (plus or minus four days). The moon is in Taurus which is soft and sensual, and that means the food, the wine, and the chocolate will be beautiful. If you give a party on December 17, when the moon is in Leo, you'll spare no expense, from the finest chocolate mousse to the best wines. This is not a pizza party, but a caviar and champagne type of event. You'll have so much going on with your career, think about hiring some help at home to clean up.
While you have the tiger by the tail, it's not the time to drop the ball, though. This is one of those years when time will be more precious than money.

Aries, you had really wonderful aspects for home — the best in 12 years — but, well, it is over now. In 2016, you will be traveling a lot — more than usual! Specifically, this will happen March through September, as Mars will be filling your houses with foreign people, foreign places, and distant trips. You're going to be bringing back elements of where you've been and adding that to your decor. You've focused a lot on your career over the past few years, so finally, for the first time, you will really be able to take that long trip if you want to.

Taurus, you've had a lot of problems with partners over the past three years and luckily, that just ended. Roommate? Not likely this year. However, living alone will be fun for the single Taurus, as you'll be able to afford it.

The good news is, the builder and money-practical Taurus will be extremely creative in 2016 — more than ever before. It's the perfect time for home decorating or a DIY project. If you can make it yourself, you do. This is your year to have fun and make your place look like you. After the new moon of August 2 is the perfect time.

The luckiest in real estate in 2016 will be Gemini, hands down. This is a dream year, Gemini, since Jupiter went into your house of home. Don't think throw pillows, think big! You'll have the best aspects of the whole zodiac in the last 12 years, and it would be a shame if you didn't take advantage of it. Buy, rent, or sell — whatever you decide to do, the actual physical space will be large and really sunny with a view and closets. Renovate the kitchen, the bathroom, or redo the basement. If you want to buy and can't quite afford the down payment, don't be shy about asking mom or dad, because they are likely to give a loan — or an outright gift — to help you out. Very strong family support will be there for you this year, as Jupiter is the giver of gifts and luck, and he asks nothing in return, only to make you happy. You'll want to finish projects by September 9, however, before Jupiter leaves for another 12 years.

Cancer, you and the home are tied together like a cup and saucer. If you're not happy at home, you have a hard time functioning. After September 9, once Jupiter enters its fourth house of home, 2016 will really be a spectacular year for you. Then, all the stops are coming off. This is the time that the dream becomes reality.

You love a beautiful kitchen (you would live there if you could) and this could be the year to totally remodel it. You'll have 13 months — until October 10, 2017, when Jupiter leaves — to complete your project.

Leo, the designer of the Zodiac, you are an extremely creative sign that does very well with color, fabric and texture, as you're ruled by the sun and all things creative. However, you are thinking about love this year, and there's a little glitch, perhaps someone in another state. So you are very focused, deciding what to do, until October, when you have some of your best aspects lined up.

The very best time for you to be thinking about the home is from the end of October through November. You may have been trying to sell or buy a house or a condo, and suddenly everything will start happening at the end of the October. It may even take you by surprise, so be ready.

Virgo, you are always practical and are super organized. You are always in The Container Store. That's because industrious Virgo is born at the time of the year when the harvest comes out. You had to pick the fruit off the vine quickly or it would whither. As you're picking, you're compartmentalizing it, this is grade A, this is grade B, this is mulch.

This is a mammoth year for you, Virgo, an emerald year, as you are the celestial favorite until September 9. That means you'll probably get the perfect piece of furniture on sale. With Mars staying in your home sector for six months, you'll be obsessed with the home more than any other sign. If you are not redoing your home, then you'll have houseguests constantly. However, you really have to nail projects, as Mars in retrograde from March 5 until September 27 and will make things will go a little haywire with glitches. Beware of out-of-stock issues, and give contractors deadlines.

Of all the signs, Libra suffered the most in 2014 and 2015. However, in 2016, Libra, your best month is January, so you get to hop on it right away. With so many planets in Capricorn, which rules the hierarchy of a company, the bones in your body, the walls in your house, or anything that forms structure, you may want to put up a wall, make structural changes, or slip in a kitchen island.

January is the perfect month to talk to contractors, designers, architects. On September 9, you're moving into your emerald year and a really happy time, through October 10, 2017. You've paid your dues and met your dragons, and are stronger now than ever, so it's the perfect time to think about home.

Scorpio, you're going to be spending major money this year. Perhaps you are moving or having a baby. A big lifestyle change usually anticipates at lot of spending, but you already know this. You don't do things on a whim and are the smartest sign when it comes to finances, so you've probably prepared. Plus or minus four days around the new moon on February 8 is when you should move, if need be. There's a full moon August 18, so that's another time to work on the house.

Sagittarius and Gemini will have the biggest home-orientated changes in 2016 — perhaps moving, fixing up, or buying. The bachelor sign, you really hold off on marriage for a quite a long time. If you do marry, it's to someone who likes to travel. However, this year, you want to put down roots, you don't want to be a little tumble weed. You have a big, big year ahead of you stabilizing life, and you are going to do that on every level, as you begin to see the benefits to making these commitments.

A warning, in 2016, you will have problems with water, as Sagittarius is going to have four heavenly bodies in Pisces — Mercury, Neptune, the sun, and the moon — Get an insurance rider for extra protect against floods. Even if you've never had problems with water damage, it could be mold, it could be ice, it could be drinking water. I see this as imminent.
